When should your child first see the orthodontist?

Orthodontics for children Prosper Texas

A lot people think that orthodontic treatment should be addressed when the necessity arises. That’s not necessarily wrong, but there are a lot of advantages to starting your kids on the path to a healthy bite and perfect smile early on. Dr. Bodine and the American Association of Orthodontists recommend that a child has their first orthodontic exam around the age of seven. This is a crucial time in your child’s dental and facial development and by scheduling this appointment, we can better head off any problems before they arise. At Bodine Orthodontics, we do not believe in charging for these semi-annual visits because we know the criticalness of planning ahead and the importance of monitoring your child’s development.

As an Orthodontist, Dr. Bodine received extensive training during his 30 month residency, after completing his dental degree, in growth and development and dento-facial orthopedics. At this critical appointment, Dr. Bodine will evaluate your child’s facial pattern to look for proper balance, symmetry and growth. He’ll count the number of teeth, take appropriate x-rays and make sure that you know where, when and how to go about helping your child get all of their teeth into a great smile.

We want you and your kids to be comfortable getting check-ups and visiting the orthodontist before any orthodontic treatment is necessary. It is important to us that your kids have a great time when they come see us, look forward to their orthodontic appointments and are proud to show off their smiles. It’s never too early to make an appointment. Get in touch today to get started.
